Sara Ramirez
Sara Ramirez has been a Mexican American actor, performer and songwriter for several years. Her mother raised her in the USA, where she faced many racial taunts that made her feel like a non-person. When she was in 9th grade she started to feel more comfortable after she was praised by her teachers for singing at a school's audition. This not only increased her confidence but her dreams were changed. The 22-year-old graduated with a degree from the Julliard School in New York. In 1993 she made her Broadway debut in Paul Simon's The Capeman. Her first film was You've Got Mail. Her greatest break came in her role as The Lady of The Lake as she appeared in the first Broadway version of Spamalot. She was awarded the Tony Award and received great praise for the performance. The following year she was cast in the role of Dr. Callie Torres in ABC's Grey's Anatomy. This led to her becoming more famous. The actress is also a renowned performer and has produced an extended show. In addition, she's an activist who is a tireless advocate in the fight for LGBT rights.
